    1. @Hlm: Chris is Madeleine's husband and nothing more. He's, by his own choice, a totally private person and citizen. I don't think he would mind at all, since he doesn't care at all being a public figure inside the royal family. And as far the timing is concerned, is mere tradition. Victoria announced her own engagement on February 2009 and we had to wait a year and a half for seeing the wedding (June 2010). Since the family marriages traditionally happen in June, and CP chose to propose right now, it does seems normal to me that we have to wait. It is propably also a wise choice, to give the Swedish people the possibility of warming up to Sofia. I think that it is a lovely thing to keep up with the tradition of June as the favourite wedding month.

I also thought that maybe CP asked the King (and hence the Parliament) first, and then, when he was sure that everything was alright, asked Sofia for her hand. This would maybe explain why everything seemed to be so rushed up! But you're right, this was very fast.
But I think the King wants to please his only son. He's not the Crown Prince anymore, but we all know that Carl Gustav still thinks the Parliament robbed his son of his legitimate title. He always favoured him, in a way, maybe that's why thing were done like this.

    2. @marta: I agree with you about Carl Gustaf. And i can't help but feel sorry for Victoria and Daniel :/ They had to wait 10 years before Carl Gusaf approve their relationship while Daniel had a "respectable" background. Carl Philip and Sofia had to wait 4 years while Sofia had a less "respectable" background (no judgement from me). I think if i were Vic , i would me mad (even if she loves Sofia). And maybe, that's why we have no congratulations. We all know that Carl Gustaf waited so long to approve Vic's marriage because if Vic was married that would mean less chances for Carl Philip to be King. And that's very disrespectul from Carl Gustaf to his daughters who had to fight for their loves.

    3. I don't think Carl Gustav was disrespectful at all. I don't believe for a moment that he didn't approve of Victoria's relationship with Daniel. Victoria is the heir to the Swedish throne, so her choice of a husband was very important to the country. CG was just prudent. But this has nothing to do with the fact CF was stripped of his rightful title: if he was the crown prince, his relationship would have been kept under control in the same way. To me this is the proof that actually CG loves Victoria and treats her as his heir. So, her choice of a husband needed to be exemplary. Madeleine did everything very fast, and CG didn't complain. He seems an impartial father to me. I was just stating thatit's obvious he loves his son dearly.
